The Dutch traded Africans in exchange for food and services in 1619. Are you or are you not ashamed of this as a Dutchman and do you feel responsible in some way?

I think that it was absolutely horrible that we used to trade Africans for food and services, because I think that every human should be treated the same and those people definitely had an awful life. Having said this, I personally don't feel responsible for what happend to the Africans because I didn't live in that time and non of the people that are still mad and hurt about this did either. So I think everyone should just stop being mad or ashamed about what happened over 400 years ago (eventhough it was horrible) and live their live.

We feel sorry that it happened, but we don't feel responsible, because it happened 400 years ago. We can empathize with us at that time and how horrible that situation has been.

I think it is absolutely horrible what happend 400 years ago, and the worst of all is that there is no excuse for what we did back then. And maybe we need to remind ourselves about it because we are now still responsible for what happend years ago we used those Africans as things and not as people. As we remind ourselves about it, it might never happen again.

No, I don;t feel ashamed or something. We were not the only ones who trade slaves, the own villages of Africa keeps slaves them selves and sold them to the dutch men and other countries. It's not fair to say that the Dutch men were bad. Of course it was terrible, but thats no reason to say all Dutch people are bad.

so I don't feel responsible for what other Dutch men did a long time ago. But I agree with the fact that it was really terrible for the slaves. the conditions where really bad and the of course i don't like the feeling that the white men were Dutch men but no i do not feel responsible.

We are not ashamed. It happened around 400 years ago. Why do we now need to be responsible for what happened 400 years ago? We didn't do anything, our ancestors did. It were not only the Dutch people who traded Africans, but throughout Europe.
